The territory is also interesting from the point of view of archeology. In fact, the presence of the human has left many traces since the prehistory. In reality, they can be observed in Domus de Janas (Homes of Fairies) and menhir, nuraghes, Giants' Tombs, nuraghe wells e huts, then in the less remote Punic and Roman constructions, and finally - in the rests of the least remote past like old flints of charcoals and the village of Gairo Vecchio (Old Gairo) that has nowadays become a historical and a cultural centre. It should be noticed that, unfortunately, the uninterrupted activity of numerous grave robbers and treasury rustlers made it possible to visit in some cases only the “rests” of their activity. In effect, because of the protracted lack of the safeguard policy and the policy of the rational enhancement of this historical heritage, those few things mentioned above could have deprived the whole community of the possibility to extend their knowledge about their own roots, history and cultural evolution.
